Meet your Judges
Johnny Risinger - Whitetail
Johnny Risinger is a self-taught taxidermist that started his business in 1987, during a time when videos, interntet, YouTube, or any other easy information access was not available. As an avid hunter and deer farmer, Johnny has a huge passion for whitetail deer.
Johnny started competing in taxidermy in the early 1990’s and quickly advanced to Master’s Division. Johnny retired from competition and then returned in 2016 with a renewed passion. This time taking classes to learn from renowned artists for sculpting and casting.
Since 2017 Johnny has earned numerous State and North American Championships. Johnny loves to share his knowledge and experience and looks forward to helping others.
Lance Van Dusen - Gamehead & Lifesize
My taxidermy career started off as a hobby for me after high school “Class of 1995” and progressed in 2000 for a more serious approach. I attended a convention and learned how much value in learning can be achieved by taxidermy competition. Following, I attended as many conventions as possible and entered numerous pieces to maxiimize my knowledge and improve my skills. I’m looking forward to the OKTA convention. I’m excited to meet newcomers and share memories with old friends!
Tim Cooley - Birds
My name is Tim Cooley. I have been a taxidermist since I was 13 years old in 1999 and started competing more in 2015. I spent several years traveling to other taxidermists to try and master the craft. I won a few national titles along the way with other major awards at the state level. I judge to help those who want to be better.
Cory Foth - Fish & Reptiles
Thanking the OKTA for the invite. I’m looking forward to seeing all the great pieces in the showroom that your state is known for producing. I’ve done well in the showroom, thanks to my past judges and fellow competitors. HOWEVER, the greatest award I have received as a judge/competitor/taxidermist is the accomplishments of people I’ve helped! Looking forward to meeting everyone.
